Gym flooring protects the floor from dropped weights, steadies equipment and gives a firm surface for training. This collection covers rubber gym mats in 6ft x 4ft, interlocking rubber tiles from 10mm to 30mm, a 10mm rubber gym roll 1.25m wide, and lighter EVA foam tiles and mats for floor exercise.
Choose by the training you do
For free weights, deadlifts and Olympic lifts, thick rubber does the work: 17mm to 20mm interlocking tiles or 18mm mats under the lifting area, and 25mm to 30mm tiles where bars are dropped from height. Rubber weightlifting mats cover dedicated lifting platforms.
Machines, racks and cardio equipment need a stable base more than deep cushion, so 10mm to 15mm tiles or 12mm mats are usually enough. For stretching, yoga, circuits and children's play, EVA foam tiles are softer, warmer and much lighter to move.
Tiles, mats or a roll
Interlocking tiles suit home gym flooring in spare rooms and garages, because each piece is light to carry and the floor can grow over time. The 90cm x 90cm x 14mm tiles have matching edge strips so the outer row finishes cleanly. Large 6ft x 4ft mats give fewer joins under a rack, but a 12mm mat weighs around 26kg and an 18mm mat around 40kg.
For commercial gym flooring across a studio, the 10mm rubber roll in blue covers large areas in long lengths with very few seams. Thicker interlocking tiles for heavier training are compared in gym floor tiles.
Where the gym is
A gym in a garage has to cope with a cold slab and sometimes a car, which is covered under garage flooring. Gym flooring sits within residential flooring, alongside floors for the rest of the home.
